Anxiety

Anxiety isn’t just worry. It’s a nervous system that stays on high alert even when nothing is wrong. Many women feel tense, keyed up, or overwhelmed most days. Thoughts loop. The body stays tight. Sleep suffers. You may function well on the outside while feeling constantly braced on the inside.

Panic Attacks

Panic attacks are sudden surges of intense physical fear that feel dangerous, even when they aren’t. Heart racing, dizziness, chest tightness, shortness of breath, or an urge to escape can come out of nowhere. After a few attacks, many women begin living in anticipation of the next one.

Depression

Depression is not always sadness. Often it’s depletion, numbness, or disconnection. You may feel unmotivated, flat, or exhausted by daily life. Things that once mattered feel distant. Many women blame themselves for “not trying hard enough,” especially when they’re still functioning outwardly.

ADHD in Women

ADHD in women is often overlooked or mislabeled as anxiety or burnout. Many women describe racing thoughts, difficulty starting tasks, emotional reactivity, or feeling capable but inconsistent. Hormonal shifts often make symptoms more noticeable.

PMDD

PMDD is a severe mood condition linked to the menstrual cycle. Symptoms typically worsen in the one to two weeks before a period and ease once it begins. Mood changes can be dramatic and disruptive, affecting relationships, work, and self-trust.

Perimenopause Mood Changes

Perimenopause can affect mood years before periods stop. Women often notice new anxiety, irritability, sleep problems, or low mood without obvious external triggers.

Insomnia

Sleep problems often amplify anxiety and depression. Difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking too early can leave you depleted and vigilant. Worrying about sleep often makes it worse.

Trauma Symptoms

Trauma doesn’t always look dramatic. Many women experience hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, irritability, or body-based anxiety linked to past experiences. These symptoms can persist long after events have passed.

Medication Side Effects

Sometimes the problem isn’t the diagnosis. It’s the medication. Side effects can include emotional blunting, agitation, sleep disruption, weight changes, or feeling unlike yourself.

It is common for patients to experience more than one of these conditions at the same time.
